AdBlue In Diesel

All around Hertfordshire we are identifying increasingly more cases of AdBlue contamination where somebody has poured AdBlue inside their diesel fuel tank. This is partly as a result of motorists not being aware of the right way to work with it (be aware: it is not a fuel additive), and to some extent because the filler caps for diesel and AdBlue are generally directly close to one another on the car.

Well, what's the problem with putting AdBlue in your diesel vehicle? Seeing that AdBlue is mostly ionised water, it is actually as bad as pouring water into your tank. Diesel and water don't mix at all and trying to run a diesel car on water cannot work. In addition, the urea is particularly corrosive to your fuel system pipes and seals and is susceptible to crystalising, blocking injectors and filters.

In case you put AdBlue into your fuel tank get it drained as quickly as possible. And obviously never crank the motor - not even to shift it into a parking place. If perhaps you did start the vehicle you will almost certainly need to have the full fuel system cleaned and fuel filters changed out.
